SEAFOOD
The NJ Delaware Bayshore is a rich place.
It has acre after acre of wetlands that act as giant nursery to fish and shellfish and all of the other creatures that make a productive estuarine ecosystem. It also has a cultural tradition of harvesting these resources thus supporting a diverse matrix of commercial fishermen, processors, packers, wholesalers and distributors.
Unfortunately, it is not so easy to access the seafood directly. Though there are some crabbers that distribute their catch on roadside stands, and oyster houses where oysters are available (Bivalve Packing Co for oysters in the shell & Harbor House Seafood for shucked oysters; there are not so many fresh seafood retail outlets. though there are some eating establishments that serve fresh Delaware Bay seafood…
